FV8 Jerez: Dillmann reclaims FV8 lead after Deletraz penalty

Louis Deletraz fails to get away with the collision that briefly put ahead of Tom Dillmann at the top of the Formula V8 3.5 standings.
Tom Dillmann has retained his Formula V8 3.5 Championship lead after Louis Deletraz picked up a penalty for colliding with is title rival in Jerez.

AVF's Dillmann had begun the penultimate event of the season with an 11 point advantage over Deletraz, but would end the first race of the weekend in the gravel trap after colliding with the Swiss driver.

Deletraz had initially made a successful pass for fourth over Dillmann on lap 16, only to run wide and cede the position back. However, his next attempt to overtake at Nieto would see the pair make contact, with Dillmann going off into the gravel trap.

With Deletraz going on to finish in fourth place, he provisionally nosed ahead of Dillmann at the head of the standings by a single point for the first time this year.

However, a post-race penalty of 10secs demotes Deletraz to 12th and out of the points, giving Dillmann back his 11 point advantage with three races of the season remaining.
