Moreau scores home victory.

Guillaume Moreau has taken a long awaited maiden victory in the World Series by Renault on home ground at Magny-Cours after making the most of his reverse grid pole position.

Although the Frenchman has shown himself to be a front runner this season, qualifying on pole in Hungary and scoring a first podium at Donington Park, it took until the 13th round of the season for him to score a maiden win for himself.

Also the first win of the season for Belgian team KTR, Moreau simply pulled away from pole position to head a relatively uneventful race that was a pale comparison to the wet opening race.

Instead, the battles behind centred around the tussle for second place, held by Julien Jousse for almost the entirety of the 27 lap race. However, his hopes of scoring a French 1-2 were ended three laps from the close when he finally bowed to the pressure being applied by Miguel Molina just behind.

As such, the Spanish teenager swept into second place to record his best ever result in the World Series and the second podium of the season for Pons Racing.

Jousse meanwhile recovered to finish third, but only after an intense tussle in the final laps with Tech 1 Racing counterpart Alvaro Parente, the youngster not willing to let his championship leading team-mate through to help his standing. Nonetheless, the successful weekend for the home team means Tech 1 have overtaken Carlin Motorsport in the team standings.

Parente meanwhile has eked his championship advantage back out to 15 points after race one winner Ben Hanley was dropped from seventh to 14th for pushing Milos Pavlovic off at the start of the race.

Just behind Parente was Pons' Carlos Iaconelli, who like his team-mate scored his best ever World Series result in fifth, and Victory Engineering's Giedo van der Garde.

With race one podium sitters Clivio Piccione and Davide Valsecchi finishing seventh and eighth, only two drivers who finished in the top ten for the first event failed to repeat that feat in the second; Pavlovic and Hanley. As such, Alejandro Nunez scored a useful two points for Comtec Racing and Mikhail Aleshin scored a point for Carlin.
