Pic: It wasn`t easy!

Charles Pic could be on the verge of a famous – and very important – maiden victory in the World Series by Renault after storming to pole position for the blue riband event at Monaco.

The teenage rookie's first pole position, the Frenchman produced the goods when a dash for slick tyres at the end of what had previously been a damp qualifying session saw him prevail on top.

Even better, Pic did all of this under the watchful eye of the F1 and GP2 paddock as the World Series supports the legendary Monaco Grand Prix this weekend.

Indeed, while the Tech 1 Racing driver admits it wasn't easy to execute the perfect lap under immense pressure, he is delighted to be in a perfect position to break his duck in the most prestigious surroundings possible.

“The last lap on slick tyres wasn't easy. I had to go for broke and I couldn't afford to mess up! The Tech 1 Racing team have prepared the perfect car for me. I feel at ease on this circuit, it suits my style of driving. It adds a bit of pressure to perform in the race, though.”
