Pic `surprised` by Monaco dominance.

Charles Pic admits he was stunned to come away from the third round of the World Series by Renault at Monaco with a maximum points haul, but was delighted all the same with his maiden win in the championship.

Making the most of his early lead around the tight confines of the street circuit, Pic's cause was aided by dismal weather conditions that prevented Giedo van der Garde from making a concerted effort to take the lead off him.

Needing just to keep his Tech 1 Racing car pointing in the right direction, Pic nonetheless showed off his potential with the fastest lap as well. Having come into the weekend not expecting to dominate the series' blue riband event, Pic was thrilled with the result.

“I didn't have my sights set on victory,” said Pic, who moves up to third in the standings. “I just wanted to work well with the team, get the hang of the circuit and do the best I could. It's great to win here. I owe it all to Tech 1 Racing.

“Starting the race with the Safety Car out there quite suited me really. Right until the end I was just focusing on not making any mistakes, I wasn't thinking about winning.
