Fauzy thrilled to be back with Fortec.

Fairuz Fauzy insists it has not been too difficult to settle into the new surroundings of Fortec Motorsport as he embarks on a second weekend with them at the latest World Series by Renault round at Silverstone.

A home event for the team, it is also significant for Fauzy, who raced for Cram by P1 last season, as he lives in Silverstone himself and is duly treating it as his highlight of the season too.

Indeed, Fauzy's relationship with Fortec has already blossomed after he scored a podium at Monaco, a performance that came despite him having not driven the new machine before that event.

Nonetheless, having competed for Fortec in lower formulas, Fauzy admits it was not too difficult to find his feet in relatively familiar surroundings.

“It hasn't been too difficult,” the GP2 Asia race winner told Crash.net Radio. “I tested with them at Valencia at the end of last year and we gelled straight away. I went on to do GP2 Asia at the beginning of the year, so it was a bit tight for the sponsors to do both.

“But we have managed to get enough to money to do the rest of the season and I have been working with Richard Dutton in Formula Renault and Formula 3 as well, so it is good to come back with Fortec.”

So far, Fauzy has proved to be a frontrunner around Silverstone, a circuit he knows well from his time competing in the British Formula 3 Championship and also in GP2. Indeed, having been seventh fastest in morning practice, Fauzy is now eyeing a spot on the front row in qualifying.

“I have been pleased with my pace in final practice, but we need to be careful that we are using the tyres well. Monaco was a great weekend for us, particularly as it was my first time in the car.

“This is a real test for me because Monaco wasn't a challenge in the wet, which meant we couldn't experiment with the car in the dry. Here though, it is more technical, but my pace has been very good and I think I can be on the front row in qualifying.”
