Two more podiums for in-form Carbone.

Fabio Carbone has moved up to second place in the World Series by Renault standings after another fine performance at Le Mans yielded a pair of podium finishes.

The Brazilian has been the form driver of late after scoring his first proper points four rounds in the championship at Silverstone, a result that has kick-started a run of eight top six finishes, including two wins.

As such, Carbone has rocketed up the leaderboard to head into the penultimate round of the championship at Estoril as the provisional runner-up behind champion-elect Giedo van der Garde.

Benefiting from starting well in both races, Carbone claimed a third place finish in the first race behind Charles Pic and Miguel Molina, before adding a second place in the feature race behind van der Garde.

Although Carbone came close to denying the Dutchman through the pit-stops, Carbone, whose career has been rejuvenated by his arrival at Ultimate Signature, was nonetheless delighted to score another pair of strong results.

“Sunday was another excellent day's work for us,” added the 28 year-old, who celebrated his birthday two days before the first race at Le Mans. “To finish on the podium twice in one weekend is a great achievement for me personally and it's also fantastic for the team.

“This result has obviously done us a lot of good in terms of the championship so I'm in a very positive frame of mind; everything is going so well at the moment. I'd like to thank Ultimate Signature for an absolutely fantastic job all weekend: the car was quick from the very beginning, which enabled us just to focus on getting the job done.”

In addition, with the help of Esteban Guerrieri, the Anglo-French team are now up to third in the team standings, nine points behind Tech 1 Racing in second and a manageable 26 points away from leader P1 Motorsport.
