While the World Series by Renault grid will be three cars smaller than originally hoped, Comtec Racing will continue to field a two-car line-up for the season opener in Spain after signing Harald Schlegelmilch.

The 2006 drivers' champions had been one of the first teams to confirm a full driver line-up for the season, but it is now unlikely that former Epsilon Euskadi driver Alexandre Marsoin will be joining Anton Nebylitskiy this year.

Nonetheless, having entrusted recent testing duties to British Formula 3 driver Riki Christodoulou, Comtec will welcome Schlegelmilch for the opening round of the championship at the Circuit de Catalunya.
