Will Stevens has admitted that consistency will be vital if he is to win the Formula Renault 3.5 title this year.

In what will be his third consecutive championship attempt with the series, the British driver enters 2014 with 34 FR3.5 races behind him. Remaining with Strakka Racing for a second season, he confirmed to Crash.net that this stability was an important factor in helping to decide his future plans.

"We've known for a while we have wanted to continue with Strakka for this year", he said. "Everything worked well with them last year so we wanted to continue the relationship.

"It's always nice to get it done as early as possible", he continued.

For Caterham Racing Academy's young driver, his mixed season of five retirements and five podiums in 2013 is motivation to improve and proof that finding reliability and regular points finishes is imperative for his title charge.

"The more and more years you do, the more it runs in your favour", he explained. "I've got stability with the team so I have something going for me but there are people who can win races, they'll be six or seven people racing for wins. We need consistency," he added.

When discussing the importance of a strong relationship with Strakka Racing, he noted that competitive performances could come as a direct result of confidence within the team.

"If you've got a good working relationship with a team who you have to put trust in, that helps a lot", he said.

"People who are switching and changing teams need to adapt to their surroundings. We've got a few more days of testing left but I know the team and the team know me so that should go well," he concluded just days after finalising his 2014 plans.

Stevens' team-mate is yet to be announced however the complete driver line-up should be confirmed by the time pre-season testing lands at Motorland, Aragon on 25th February.r
