Aurelien Panis will join Tech 1 Racing for his first Formula Renault 3.5 season, becoming the fifth driver on the 2015 grid.

The Frenchman makes his move to the 3.5 litre engines after finishing ninth in the 2014 Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup season. The rookie will compete against his fellow FR2.0 Eurocup graduate Nyck de Vries and experienced FR3.5 competitors Oscar Tunjo, Oliver Rowland and Pietro Fantin.

"I am extremely determined to attack for this new challenge and I am pleased with the confidence placed in me by the Tech 1 Racing team," he said. "This is a significant milestone for me and I look forward to it!"

Tech 1 Racing has fielded the likes of Daniel Ricciardo, Jules Bianchi and Jean-Eric Vergne in the past and will continue its long alliance with Renault this year. Team Manager, Simon Abadie, was impressed by the rookie's 2014 season, noting his testing performance in recent weeks.

The young Frenchman, son of Olivier Panis, will make his race debut at Motorland, Aragon in April. The team ran Marco Sorensen and Nicholas Latifi during the latter stages of 2014 but his partner is yet to be confirmed.
