Dean Stoneman and Nyck de Vries will lead DAMS' defence of the Formula Renault 3.5 Championship in 2015, it has been confirmed.

Winner of the drivers' and teams' titles for the last two seasons with Kevin Magnussen and Carlos Sainz Jr - both of whom stepped straight into F1 following their successes -, Stoneman joins the team after finishing runner-up in the 2014 GP3 Series, while de Vries is the latest youngster to graduate after winning the supporting Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup.

Stoneman's signing will see him make his belated full-time debut in the FR3.5 after a deal to race with ISR in 2011 fell through when he was diagnosed with cancer.

Having taken almost three years out of racing to recover, Stoneman made his international return in GP3 last year, scoring five wins en route to second overall, a performance that not only caught the eye of DAMS but has also earned him Red Bull backing for 2015.

"Joining such a fantastic team as DAMS, the reigning double champion in Formula Renault 3.5, is a fantastic opportunity. I would never have imagined it at the same time last year. So this year is the one in which I really have to make my mark. I'm back where I was four years ago before my illness. In fact, I'm much better placed thanks to the backing from Red Bull, and I'm in the best team in the championship.

"I'm going to give it my best shot, fight for places in the top five or the top three in the opening races and then for victory as soon as possible. We're going to be up against some very tough rivals, but I've got great confidence in the team and I'm ready to fight at the front."

Young Dutchman de Vries, meanwhile, will hope to follow in the wheeltracks of Pierre Gasly, Stoffel Vandoorne and Robin Frijns by making the seamless transition from FRenault 2.0 Eurocup to FR3.5.

"I'm very pleased to be joining a great team like DAMS. It has enjoyed so much success in the past few years, and it's really impressed me by its professionalism and the quality of its work. I know that a lot is expected of Dean and I.

"Personally speaking, I feel I have to go through a learning phase that begins by getting to know the team and the car really well. Then I have to build up my experience in the championship without setting myself any particular aims in the opening rounds. But I intend to gather momentum in the second part of the season and score some top-three finishes."
