Matthieu Vaxiviere has ended the first day of Formula Renault 3.5 Championship action at Spa-Francorchamps with the fastest time for the Lotus team.

The Frenchman - a race winner at the Aragon opener - comes into the third round looking to bounce back from his DNF at Monaco last week when he triggered a turn one pile-up that eliminated several cars from the running.

One of two drivers to break the 2mins barrier in FP2, Vaxiviere held off Tio Ellinas in the Strakka Racing machine, the Cypriot having been fastest in FP1, while title contender Oliver Rowland and Nicholas Latifi rounded out the top four.

Beitske Visser enjoyed her best session of the season with the fifth best time for AVF, ahead of Meindert van Buuren and Monaco race winner and championship leader Jazeman Jaafar, the Malaysian seventh best despite missing much of FP1.

Completing the top ten was the drivers who joined Jaafar on the podium in Monaco, Dean Stoneman and Tom Dillmann, while Nyck de Vries completed the top ten.
