Just hours before first practice gets underway at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, Formula Renault 3.5 organisers have announced changes to the championship's line up.

Marlon Stockinger and Louis Deletraz complete a 21 driver contingent at the championship's fifth round, joining Lotus and Comtec Racing respectively.

Stockinger, an FR3.5 veteran, returns to the Lotus cockpit for the first time this year, replacing Meindert van Buuren. The Dutch racer was replaced by Lotus junior Alex Albon for the practice sessions at the fourth round in Hungary. Out with suspected contract issues, the 20-year-old will be in turn move to Pons Racing to fill the remaining seat alongside Roberto Merhi.

In stark contrast, debutant Deletraz will become the first leader of Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup to compete in the higher category mid-season. As the Red Bull Ring is only hosting an FR3.5 event, the Swiss teenager is eligible to compete in Austria with Comtec Racing.

Speaking ahead of his race debut this weekend, the 18-year-old described his excitement and the challenge that awaits:

"I am really excited by this new challenge with Comtec Racing," he explained. "My main target is to learn for the future. I know it is really difficult to join a championship at mid-season, as I'm a total newcomer compared to all experienced drivers," he continued, noting his one-race deal with Comtec.

The British team makes an appearance in Renault's flagship series this weekend for the first time this season after a deal involving Facu Regalia fell through before the season's first round at Motorland, Aragon.

First practice from the Red Bull Ring will begin at 17:10 CET.
