Tio Ellinas was fastest at the close of Formula Renault 3.5 practice from the Silverstone circuit with home team Strakka Racing.

The British outfit is based in Silverstone and enjoyed a great return to their local track. Elias led Red Bull junior and British hopeful Dean Stoneman by two tenths of-a-second as the chequered flag signalled the end of action for the day.

Title challenger Matthieu Vaxiviere was third, just in front of Fortec Motorsport's Oliver Rowland who seeks a fifth win of the season. Nick de Vries was fourth with the second Strakka challenger of Gustav Malja, fifth.
