Egor Orudzhev led the AVF duo of Beitske Visser and Alfonso Celis Jr to top Friday morning practice at the ninth round of Formula Renault 3.5 championship at Jerez, Spain.

The Russian was never far away from striking a challenge and produced a late flying lap to dethrone long-time leader Nyck de Vries in his Arden Motorsport challenger with just two minutes left on the clock. The rookie's fastest time, a 1:28.758s, ensured he outpaced Visser by two tenths-of-a-second over one lap of the Spanish circuit.

Visser and Celis Jr both produced a season's best performance at the final round of the FR3.5 championship with de Vries, fourth. The Dutch rookie - and McLaren junior - led to 21 minutes of practice but settled for third best rookie at the chequered flag.
