Matevos Isaakyan was back on form with Pons Racing to top the Wednesday time sheets overall with a consistent running in the afternoon at Formula 3.5 V8 testing in Aragon.

The Russian was a dominant force during last month's post-season test and replicated that performance with a 1m 41.505s to sit four one-thousandths-of-a-second faster than the ever-improving Strakka of Jake Hughes.

Kevin J?rg also improved in the morning to go third fastest with Arden Motorsport with Callum Ilott fourth. Ben Barnicoat did not improve on his morning time of 1m 41.881s so settles for fifth overall, becoming the fifth series rookie inside the top five at the Spanish circuit.

Yu Kanamaru, having completed two rounds of Formula Renault 3.5 this year, was sixth overall at the helm of the second Pons Racing challenger. Meanwhile, Alfonso Celis Jr, the only driver currently confirmed for the inaugural F3.5 V8 championship, was seventh and was joined by fellow series regulars Egor Orudzhev and Dean Stoneman for the top nine positions. 2015 Formula Renault NEC champion Louis Deletraz was a steady tenth for the defending champions Fortec Motorsports.

Matthieu Vaxiviere only completed the morning session with Spirit of Race was down in 14th at the close of Wednesday running, four places higher than fellow Spirit of Race driver Dan Wells. Wells was invited to test in F3.5 V8 after winning Asian Formula Renault in dominant style this year. Vladimir Atoev and Nikita Zloblin replaced them at the Italian-owned Swiss-based outfit for the afternoon.

2015 Carlin driver Tom Dillmann made his return to the cockpit with AVF, but only completed the afternoon session for 15th. This result comes fresh from a d?but World Endurance Championship win in Shanghai last weekend.
