iSport International has confirmed the signing of Davide Valsecchi for the opening round of the GP2 Asia Series season at the new Yas Island circuit in Abu Dhabi.

The experienced Italian, already a GP2 winner with two season of experience under his belt, has inked a deal for the event, which will run alongside the first ever F1 event in the Arab nation.

Valsecchi will bring extra knowledge and experience to the team for the event and will also take part in the upcoming test session at the Yas Island venue; a test which will be missed by iSport's other driver Oliver Turvey due to a clash with the final round of the Renault World Series.

Turvey was confirmed in the team's line-up for both the Asia Series and the main 2010 championship last week with backing from the Racing Steps Foundation in a move that team boss Paul Jackson admitted was good for the team.

“We are very pleased to have Oliver on board with us for GP2 Asia which should provide him with some very good experience with the team leading into the 2010 GP2 season,” he said. “Oliver has an excellent track record in all the categories he has raced in so far and we will look to continue this with him in GP2. We are also honoured to be chosen by Racing Steps Foundation to help further the career of an exceptional British talent. The Foundation is providing an amazing opportunity for young drivers who would otherwise be unable to progress and we are very excited to be a part of that.”

Valsecchi's deal to partner Turvey is currently for the Abu Dhabi event only.
