ART Grand Prix has confirmed that Luca Filippi will complete its GP2 line-up for the 2008 season.

The Italian, who finished fourth in the standings this season while driving for Super Nova and tested for the Honda F1 team at the conclusion of the campaign, tested for a number of teams during winter testing and admitted he was thrilled to commit to the ART team for his third season in the series.

“I'm really pleased because I tested with different teams this winter and I enjoyed a lot the work we did together with ART Grand Prix,” he said. “I found a very professional team and very motivated people. Everybody is working very hard and I think this is the most important thing you need to succeed.

“I think that with my potential and the one of the team our aim has to be the title. My personal goal will be to fight for the wins in every single race weekend and I think that with my experience and with the help of the team we will be able to achieve that. It will be interesting to see how the new car runs and we'll have to do the best job as soon as for the first winter test. We need to work hard before the beginning of the championship to be in good shape for the first meeting.”

Team co-owner Nicolas Todt said he was delighted to bring Filippi in to partner new Renault F1 test driver Romain Grosjean, saying he was confident that the pair will be successful in 2008.

“I'm extremely pleased we reached an agreement with Luca because he's a very talented driver, his approach is extremely professional and he has quite a lot of experience in the GP2 Series, which will be useful in aiming for the top step,” he said. “Furthermore, to me he is the one who progressed the most in the series last year.

“With Luca and Romain I think we have a strong line-up that should allow us to set high ambitions for ART Grand Prix.”
