Arden reveal Maki, Razia for Asia

Trust Team Arden have confirmed Mika Maki and Luiz Razia will form their driver line-up for the upcoming GP2 Asia Series.

A young pairing for the Dutch-sponsored, British based team, Arden head into the second GP2 Asia season keen to revisit some of the form that took them to the runners-up spot in last year's series.

They will attempt this with an all-rookie line-up though with Razia making his GP2 debut following two seasons racing in Euroseries 3000, while Maki arrives having almost completed his first year in the Formula 3 Euroseries.

Of the two, Maki is tipped to do a star turn, the Finnish driver belying his rookie status in Formula 3 to win on two occasions this year, while he is currently classified fourth in the overall standings with one round remaining.

Also coming with the obligatory Red Bull backing, which has helped Sebastien Buemi, Adrian Zaugg and Michael Ammermuller into an Arden seat before him, Maki is confident he can help the team get back to their best.

“I am happy to be involved in the GP2 Asia Series and to be starting this new season with Arden. The team have a great relationship with Red Bull and have helped develop Red Bull Juniors during the GP2 seasons and achieve good results. I am looking forward to working with the team and being on top in this Championship.”

Brazilian racer Razia, meanwhile, has spent two seasons plying his trade in the Euroseries 3000, a championship that has also bred GP2 alumni in the shape of Vitaly Petrov, Roldan Rodriguez and Diego Nunes recently.

“I'm excited to start working with Arden in the GP2 Asia Championship,” said the 19-year-old. “Arden has a great deal of motor sport history and I'm confident to contribute my share for the next page in their history book. I appreciate the trust Christian Horner and his highly successful team and sponsors are putting in me.

“After all, Arden finished second in the inaugural GP2 Asia Championship earlier this year, and so it is with great pleasure that I can confidently look forward to sitting in a race winning car and I will do my utmost to see Arden into the winner's circle again.”
