Ocean completes first line-up with Crestani

The newly formed Ocean Racing Technology team has completed its inaugural GP2 Asia driver line-up with the signing of Fabrizio Crestani ahead of its debut in Dubai this weekend.

The Italian, who won three races in this year's Euroseries3000, has been signed to join Yelmer Buurman in the new Tiago Monteiro-run team, which makes it first appearance this weekend after taking the place of BCN Competicion.

The 20-year-old, who also raced in International Formula Master this year, has undergone a handful of GP2 tests with DPR and FMSI in recent weeks, but while Monteiro is aware of the challenge the weekend will represent, he is confident he has signed a future talent.

"Fabrizio is a young driver with potential,” the ex-F1 driver said. “He quickly came to grips with the Euro Series 3000 and his performances were solid. He now has to take this new challenge as he has never raced with such power before. He is motivated and that is important when entering such a competitive championship that all the young drivers aiming to join."

With the takeover, which was only confirmed a week before the second round of GP2 Asia, now complete, fellow team manager Jose Guedes is confident they are well placed to learn their trade before embarking on their first full GP2 Series season next year.

"We have gathered all the ingredients and now we have started work,” he said. “We now need to take our new team to the track where we can get a better idea of where we stand. We can count on two young and hard working drivers and it is mandatory to start off on the right foot. We knoiw there is a lot of hard work ahead, but we all have great motivation."
