Dominant DAMS take charge.

DAMS have established a dominant lead in both the driver and team GP2 Asia standings after securing their first-ever 1-2 result at this level.

The only team to head into the winter championship fielding an unchanged driver line-up from last year's series, the decision is already paying dividends as the combination of Kamui Kobayashi and Jerome d'Ambrosio has helped them build a 27 point gap over Durango Corse in the team standings.

Furthermore, Kobayashi has extended his lead in the drivers' table after claiming victory in the feature event, a race in which he was followed closely by team-mate Jerome d'Ambrosio.

With d'Ambrosio going on to finish third in the sprint race, in all DAMS scored 23 points over the weekend - one point less than Durango has scored all season.

DAMS team manager Eric Boullier is thrilled with the team's current run of form.

“Obviously a fantastic weekend for the team! We couldn't have done any better on Friday as we scored our first double of the year. Each of our drivers drove a perfect race. And today, with the reversed grid they were able to slice their way though the field to score points - and it wasn't easy. Jérôme, in particular, had a great race. It's all good news for the teams' championship in which we've now got a big lead.”

Despite his comfortable championship lead over Davide Valsecchi, Toyota F1 test driver Kobayashi is nonetheless refusing to get complacent.

“It's been a very positive weekend for me and for the team. I needed a big haul of points for the title and I succeeded. Friday was a trouble-free race but today was a bit more difficult in the traffic.

“I've now got a ten-point lead over the second-placed driver in the championship but the battle isn't over yet. I'll have to keep up the same rhythm.”
