Super Nova has revealed the signing of Luca Filippi and Javier Villa for the 2009 GP2 Series campaign.
Filippi will return to the team having finishing fourth in the standings while with David Sears' outfit back in 2007.
Having endured a difficult 2008 season with ART, Filippi admitted he was glad to be back in familiar surroundings and said he was eager to build on his past results for the team.
“I am really pleased to be back at Supernova,” he said. “This is what I really wanted since the last test at Paul Ricard and since then we have been working really hard to finalise a deal. Now we have, I only want to better the 2007 year we had together.
“I can see the potential of the team and how hard they are all working to make 2009 great year and I couldn't wish for a better place to be this year.”
Villa meanwhile joined Supernova for the GP2 Asia Series campaign and will continue his relationship into the main season.
“After running with Supernova in the Asia series I am really pleased to be joining them for the main series so we can continue the progress we have made in Asia,” he said. “I am very happy with the way the team works and I am hoping for great things this year. The mechanics and engineers are also working very hard so I can only see a good outcome from this year.”
Having been linked to a number of drivers during the off-season, team boss Sears was pleased to confirm his partnership for the season ahead.
“We are extremely pleased to announce both our drivers for the GP2 2009 season,” he said. “It's fantastic that Javier Villa got to know the team in the Asia Series and is coming with us into the Main Series. We welcome Luca Filippi back, as he has had more success with our GP2 team than any other, when he was with us two years ago.”
