Maldonado excluded

ART Grand Prix's Pastor Maldonado has been excluded from the results of Saturday afternoon's race one in Valencia after post-race scrutineering discovered that the floor of the Venezuelan's car was too low on the right side of the vehicle.

Maldonado, who was tapped into a spin on the first lap after a coming together with Edoardo Mortara before staging a strong comeback to finish the race in eighth place and claim a point along with the reverse pole for Sunday's race, had a bolt which held much of his car's floor in place work lose during the event.

As a result the car was in breach of the Technical Regulations, as the right side of the vehicle did not comply with the proscribed dimensions, and the exclusion was advised to the team.

Kamui Kobayashi has thus been promoted to eighth in the results, and will start the race on Sunday morning from pole position, while Maldonado will start from the rear of the grid.
