Zuber unable to race in Spa

Andreas Zuber's hopes of passing Giorgio Pantano's record as the most experienced GP2 Series driver in history have been dashed following a legal dispute that has impounded both his car and that of erstwhile Fisichella Motor Sport International team-mate Luiz Razia.

Zuber should have been on track for his 78th career start in Saturday's sprint race, surpassing Pantano's mark, and needs only six more points to reach 100 in his career, having made his debut at the opening race of the 2006 season. Despite not having missed a race since then, however, the 2009 Spa-Francorchamps round has presented an unwanted interruption for the eighth-placed driver in this year's championship.

Instead of racing under the recently-returned Scuderia Coloni banner, both Zuber and Razia will have to watch as former FMSI driver Andy Soucek's legal action, resulting from his being dropped by FMSI prior to the 2008 campaign, saw most of the team's equipment being seized.

"It's a real pity, as I have good memories in Spa and qualified fifth for the last two years on this circuit," Zuber commented, "I won't see the track here as I have to wait for the team to sort out a legal dispute with an ex-driver, which is a pity for all of us as we are all not concerned by the dispute. To see my engineers and mechanics watch the race from the monitor in the team's garage breaks my heart. I hope for better times in Monza."

Zuber has 20 points from the 2009 season to date, with podiums at Monaco and Silverstone.
