Perez penalty hands Super Nova 1-2

Sergio Perez has been handed a 25 second penalty following the GP2 Series sprint race finale at Portimao after he was judged to have overtaken the safety car before it had re-entered the pit lane.

Six drivers were given drive-through penalties during the race for the same reason, promoting Luca Filippi to victory, while Perez and Javier Villa completed the podium positions.

However, stewards have since decided to include Perez, who was running seventh at the restart, in being penalised, handing in him a post-race penalty that drops him to 11th position.

The change in results has implications in the overall standings too, with Super Nova Racing's 1-2 result ensuring they now finish third in the team championship, ahead of Racing Engineering.

Giedo van der Garde inherits the final point for sixth position.
