Racing Engineering, Ocean reveal Jerez rosters
2 October 2009
Fat Burner Racing Engineering and Ocean Racing Technology have both announced the drivers that will be testing their cars during the coming week's post-season session at Jerez de la Frontera.
Local team Racing Engineering has assembled its usual mix of experience, although all six candidates have previous GP2 experience, unlike ORT, which has opted for several series newcomers amongst its sextet.
Just two weeks after the end of the 2009 championship in Portimao, Diego Nunes, Roldán Rodríguez, Kamui Kobayashi, Sten Pentus, Jérôme D'Ambrosio and Dani Clos will all test for Alfonso d'Orleans' team in southern Spain between 6-8 October, with Nunes and Rodríguez getting things underway on the opening day, before Kobayashi and Pentus, and d'Ambrosio and Clos pair up for the remaining sessions respectively.
Ocean, meanwhile, will begin its preparations for a second season in GP2 - where it will look to build on a maiden victory, three podiums and 44 points - by running FMaster champion Fabio Leimer, series rival Josef Kral, sometime GP2 runner Rodolfo Gonzalez and World Series by Renault frontrunner Charles Pic.
"We are already satisfied with the screening we made on the drivers market and we know with whom we will run in Jerez," co-owner Tiago Monteiro commented, "We chose them because they're young and because they've all been successful in the categories they've competed in. Most of them don't have GP2 experience, but it is a source of motivation for them because they know they have to give the maximum in a very competitive car."
The team also revealed that it expects to run a blend of experience and young talent in 2010, with the Jerez test being the first step in determining the line-up. The subsequent Paul Ricard test will see five drivers in action, with the pairing for the Asia Series to be determined from their performances.
