Barwa Addax confirms Asian line-up

Barwa Addax confirms Max Chilton and Luis Razia as its drivers to the upcoming GP2 Asia Series season
The Barwa Addax team has confirmed that Luis Razia will partner Max Chilton for the 2009/10 GP2 Asia Series season.

The team had previously revealed that Chilton would make the move into GP2 following his race-winning campaign in British F3 and will now bring in the experienced figure of Razia alongside him; Razia having won in both the Asian and full GP2 Series' in the past.

“I'm happy to see that the Barwa Addax race team has decided to join forces with me in the Asia Series,” Razia said. “It shows me that they have faith in my abilities and it should put me in the right position to fight for race wins and ultimately for the title. I look forward to the Abu Dhabi race in particular. It is a brand new race circuit and it always poses a challenge to the drivers, and it's my first race with Barwa Addax. I also aim to impress the technical staff and Mr. Agag in particular, in order to work on continuity with the Barwa Addax team possibly beyond the Asia Series.”

Team boss Alejandro Agag said he was delighted to have both drivers on board for the Asian campaign.

“We are really delighted to welcome British driver, Max Chilton to the Barwa Addax Team, who will be driving for the team in the forthcoming GP2 Asia Series 2009-2010 and in all the tests leading up to the beginning of the championship,” he said. “We firmly believe that he is a driver with a solid background despite his age, as he is still only 18 years old. We feel that this is the right step for the driver, not only in his development but also in his sporting career. We are hopeful that he will adapt to a class that is a genuine platform for drivers wanting to compete in Formula 1.

“There is little one can say about Luis Razia as nearly everyone is aware of the talent of this driver based on his recent performances. He has won races in both GP2 championships and we are convinced that this Asia Series could be very important for both driver and team. If we take into account Luis's progress in recent events we expect to be fighting for the championship.”
