GP2 » Vietoris, Piscopo join DAMS

DAMS charge Christian Vietoris and Edoardo Piscopo with defending its GP2 Asia crown.
New line-up for reigning champions DAMS
Reigning GP2 Asia champions DAMS have confirmed its driver line-up for the new 2009-10 season with the acquisition of Christian Vietoris and Edoardo Piscopo.

The French team finished 1-2 in the 2008-09 standings with the combination of Kamui Kobayashi and Jerome d'Ambrosio, but with neither driver able to make a similar kind of impact in the more prestigious European series, DAMS are favouring an entirely new pairing this time around.

Leading their defence will be Vietoris, who recently secured the runners-up spot in the Formula 3 Euroseries behind Jules Bianchi for Mucke Motorsport.

He will be joined by Piscopo, whose credits include stints in A1 GP, F3 Euroseries, Italian Formula 3 and Formula 2. Both drivers will be making their race debut in GP2 machinery at the opening round of the season in Abu Dhabi.

Elsewhere, Coloni have also confirmed Roldan Rodriguez will join Will Bratt in forming their GP2 Asia pairing. The Brazilian won one race to finish third overall for Piquet GP last season and is the highest placed driver to return this year.
