Having made a dominant start to the third GP2
Asia Series, Davide Valsecchi and iSport International have taken their relationship forward to cover the entire 2010 campaign in the F1 feeder category.
Having shown flashes of promise since graduating to GP2
with Durango in 2008, taking sprint races wins before moving on to title contender Barwa Addax for the latter stages of 2009, Valsecchi's winter move to iSport immediately yielded pole position, feature race victory, second place in the sprint race and two fastest laps in Abu Dhabi. The most successful weekend in team history leaves the 22-year old Italian at the top of the Asia Series standings during the competition's New Year hiatus, but has led to an early Christmas present in the shape of a deal for next season's summer campaign.
“From the first time Davide stepped in to the iSport car, he was quick," team principal Paul Jackson confirmed, "He has always been a good driver, but his performance in Abu Dhabi was outstanding.
"It was clear early on that Davide fitted in very well with the whole team and felt at home with us, and that was reflected in his performance in Abu Dhabi. After another positive test at Paul Ricard in November, we are delighted to welcome Davide to the team for the remaining GP2
Asia races and also the 2010 GP2
Valsecchi will continue to race alongside Britain's Oliver Turvey in both the Asia and Summer series.
