The Arden team has confirmed the signing of former World Series by Renault frontrunner Charles Pic ahead of both the 2010 European and Asian GP2 championships.

The Frenchman, a former European Junior ICA karting champion, graduates to the F1 feeder series having achieved multiple race wins, pole positions and podiums in the World Series, finishing third overall in 2009 despite a difficult start to the campaign.

"The Arden team are delighted to have signed an agreement with Charles for Europe and the remaining GP2 Asia races," head of race engineering Richard Dent confirmed after the deal was made public at the annual Autosport International exhibition.

"Having tested with the team at Jerez last year - and raced at the Abu Dhabi GP2 Asia round - Charles stood out amongst the various drivers that we have tested. With a lot of rookies entering GP2 for 2010, we believe that he has the ability to be a frontrunner in his debut season."

Having already formed a solid working relationship with Arden on the back of the Abu Dhabi double-header, where he finished 15th in race two after an earlier retirement left him well down the grid.

"I am very happy to be joining the Arden team, who have a proven track record in GP2," the 19-year old commented, "Racing in the final three GP2 Asia races gives me the opportunity to work closely with the team and prepare fully for the European season. Its going to be a busy year and I can't wait to get started."
