Trident calls on Clos for Asia Series resumption

Dani Clos will take over the lead Trident Racing entry for the second round of the 2009-10 GP2 Asia Series in Abu Dhabi.

Trident Racing has reached an agreement for Dani Clos to join the already-confirmed Plamen Kralev in its line-up for the second round of the 2009-10 GP2 Asia Series in Abu Dhabi on 5-6 February.

Having spent last year's summer season with Racing Engineering, scoring points at the season finale, the 21-year old can boast a long single-seater career, which began with title success in the 2006 Italian Formula Renault series.

In 2007-2008, the Spanish driver add to his experience with a spell in the F3 Euroseries, before making his F1 debut in testing with Williams. Last year, he made the step to GP2 with countryman Alfonso d'Orleans' Racing Engineering operation, scoring a podium and fastest lap in Portimao.

“We are really happy to have the opportunity to see Dani in one of our GP2 cars during the next race in Abu Dhabi," team boss Maurizio Salvadori commented.

"The first GP2 Asia Series' race in November showed Trident to be very competitive and I think Clos is a very fast driver. Sure, it will be not easy for him to recuperate the gap from the other drivers who have already run on the Abu Dhabi circuit for two test days and one race weekend, but I am confident that Dani will find the right feeling with the car and with our team very quickly”.

Trident is concurrently preparing for the first race of the 2010 summer season, and expects to announce its two drivers in the near future.
