The driver line-up for the GP2 Final is now complete, following announcements from Barwa Addax, Ocean Racing Technology and Super Nova Racing.
Addax will be fielding American Jake Rosenzweig alongside Jolyon Palmer, who had already confirmed his own seat
for this weekend's GP2 event.
Rosenzweig tested with the team at both Jerez and Barcelona as well as spending a day with Coloni. The 22-year-old has spent the latter half of 2011 competing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series with Mofaz Racing.
Meanwhile, Ocean Racing Technology have announced that French driver Nicolas Marroc will be competing alongside Portugal's António Félix da Costa at Abu Dhabi this weekend.
24-year-old Marroc did not take part in the Jerez and Barcelona tests, but previously tried out with Ocean in Abu Dhabi in 2010, and was delighted to be back with the GP2 squad.
"Rejoining Ocean is an immense pleasure, all the more so since this time it will be to take part in two GP2 races," he said. "I will do everything to be up to the confidence Ocean's put in me. This will be a very important weekend for my career and whatever happens I am sure I will learn a lot of things that will help me meet the challenges awaiting me in the Le Mans Series."
His new team mate da Costa previously broke the news
of his own GP2 Final race seat at Ocean unofficially on his Twitter page. Da Costa spent two of the four days of post-season testing at Jerez and Barcelona with Ocean, finishing in the top ten in three of the four sessions. He also tested with Caterham Team AirAsia for one day at Jerez and with Lotus ART at Barcelona.
"I feel well prepared physically and I know that I can count on Ocean Racing Technology for the technical aspect," said da Costa. "My objective is to have good performance, starting with my first GP2 Series race on a track I already know." He added, "The essential thing will be to acquire good experience with Ocean and I hope to bring Portugal a worthwhile result to thank the team and everyone who believes in me."
"Antonio Felix da Costa is a known quantity that we believe in and the team is ready, motivated, and determined to make sure his first GP2 race weekend is a success," said team co-owners Tiago Monteiro and José Guedes.
The final team to confirm its line-up for the GP2 Final is Super Nova Racing, which has announced that it is fielding an all-Italian line-up in Abu Dhabi consisting of Giacomo Ricci and Fabio Onidi.
Ricci has previous experience of GP2, having competed in races between 2008 and 2010 for DPR (David Price Racing) before being replaced by Fabrizio Crestani, ironically after having just scored his maiden series win in the 2010 Hungary sprint race. He also competed in the GP2 Asia series, giving him valuable experience of the Yas Marina circuit, and tested with Ocean at Barcelona last month.
He's paired with 23-year-old Fabio Onidi who is coming off a successful season in Auto GP. Onidi tested with Coloni at Jerez and Rapax at Barcelona before finally opting to go with Super Nova for his GP2 début.
