Josef Kr?l has been confirmed in the second GP2 race seat at Barwa Addax for 2012, with the 21-year-old Czech Republic driver set to line-up alongside new team mate Johnny Cecotto Jr. when the new season starts.

"I am very happy that I got a chance to race in one of the most successful teams in GP2 ever," said Kral. "It motivates me to work even harder and be on top in the end of the year."

Kral tested with the team in the post-season test sessions in Barcelona in November, after having spent 2011 racing for Arden International in his first full year of GP2 and GP2 Asia.

He was on the podium three times during the year (with second place in the sprint races at Abu Dhabi and Monaco, and a third place later in the season at Spa-Francorchamps) and was in the points on four other occasions.

"I am pleased that Barwa Addax Team believe in my capability and I am looking forward to this season," said Kral. "I would also like to use this opportunity to thank all the people who have helped me to make this happen."

Team owner Alejandro Agag felt that Kral was the ideal pairing with the already-signed Johnny Cecotto Jr. for the upcoming season, which will see Barwa Addax defencing their team championship won last year with Giedo van der Garde and Charles Pic in the cars.

"Josef Kr?l is the ideal companion for team-mate Johnny Cecotto because, despite the fact that both are young, they have had important experience of the GP2 series," explained Agag, "which is absolutely essential if you are going to have any aspirations to compete for the driver's championship.

"We will provide both drivers with all the resources and experience they need to fight for the most important objectives, and at the same time give these young drivers the chance to demonstrate the world that they are top class drivers," Agag added.
