Top 10 GP2 Driver of the Year 2012:

Team: Carlin
2012 starts: 24

Ninth place for Britain's Max Chilton in this year's GP2 Driver of the Year seems slightly on the harsh side to us: after all, the guy finished on the podium in the very first race of the year, took victory in Hungary and then clinched the final feature race win of the year at Singapore. That meant that he ended the year with 169 points, when he'd previously tallied only four points in the whole of 2011 and consequently not even been eligible for the end-of-year vote!

This time, Chilton finished in a very strong fourth place in the final championship standings, ten places above that of his much-fancied new rookie team mate Rio Haryanto from Indonesia. Add to that a couple of pole positions, and it's not hard to see why Marussia F1 has now signed Chilton up as its Grand Prix driver for 2013, meaning that he won't be back for any further attempts in GP2 anytime soon.

We reckon that on this evidence Chilton deserved (slightly) better than ninth place in the Driver of the Year standings - but that's why it's not up to us to decide these things! The voters have spoken, and your decision is final.
