Lotus GP's James Calado might have been busy stealing the rookie limelight for much of the season, but we were just as dazzled by the performance of the Brazilian in his first season in GP2.

Time and again, Felipe Nasr made mincemeat of other more experienced drivers through the midfield as he rebounded from less than ideal starting positions on the grid. In the end he netted a hat-trick of third place finishes to add to a runner-up spot in the sprint race at Spa-Francorchamps as he ended up in the points in all but two of the races in the second half of the year.

If he can improve his qualifying performances and leave him with less work to do on race day, he should be a force to be reckoned with in 2013, when he re-teams with Carlin with whom he won the 2011 British Formula Three championship.
