Barwa Addax completes line-up with Rosenzweig
25 January 2013
Barwa Addax have confirmed the signing of Jake Rosenzweig to drive for them in the upcoming 2013 GP2 Series championship.
Rosenzweig previously appeared in four races with the team at the end of the 2012 season after taking over from Josef Kral, and he also worked with the squad in all of the post-season test sessions at Barcelona and Jerez.
"I'd like to welcome Jake Rosenzweig, although he is almost part of the family after having competed in four races and done four complete tests with us," said Addax team principal and owner Alejandro Agag. "The whole team and everybody involved is delighted with his professional attitude.
"We are keen to count on his services because he has shown that he is willing to work very hard to improve in each and every race and training session," Agag continued. "I'm sure that together we can form a good tandem of team-driver competitive enough to get closer to the leading drivers of every race."
As well as his races at Monza and Singapore at the end of 2012, Rosenzweig also competed in the 2009/10 GP2 Asia Series with Super Nova. The London-born driver - who races under his American nationality - has most recently been racing in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series in 2011-12 and has also had outings in the Auto GP World Series, the Formula 3 Euro Series, British Formula Three and the Macau Grand Prix.
"I am excited to be joining Addax for the 2013 GP2 season and wish to thank all involved for making this possible," said the 23-year-old. "Having raced in the final two rounds of the 2012 championship with Addax, I know what an opportunity this represents to be working with them again.
"The race calendar has some great circuits and I am looking forward to hitting the ground running," added Rosenzweig. "I will do my best to score as many points as possible over the course of the season."
After winning the team championship in the 2011 season, Addax struggled last year and ended up a disappointing eighth place in the final standings and are looking to rebound to their former heights in 2013.
The team had already confirmed in December that Indonesia's Rio Haryanto would drive for them, after they had also tried out Alexander Sims and Adrian Quaife Hobbs in the post-season test sessions in Spain.
Rosenzweig's signing makes Addax the sixth GP2 team to complete its line-up for 2013. DAMS (Marcus Ericsson and Stephane Richelmi), Lotus GP (James Calado and Daniel Abt), Arden (Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Mitch Evans), Racing Engineering (Fabio Leimer and Julian Leal) and Carlin (Felipe Nasr with Jolyon Palmer) have also all announced their drivers for the forthcoming season.
In addition, Rapax have signed up Stefano Coletti and Venezuela GP Lazarus have confirmed Rene Binder, while Daniel de Jong will drive for newcomers MP Motorsports.
Caterham, iSport, Trident and the newest team to enter the GP2 Series, Hilmer Motorsports, have all yet to make any driver announcements, with a month still to go before the first pre-season test to be held on February 26-28 at Jerez.
