Season summary:

With someone of Marcus Ericsson's experience, you'd have expected the Swede to be one of the big contenders for the title right from the start - especially given that he had been handed the very same DAMS car that had seen Romain Grosjean and Davide Valsecchi win the championship in the proceeding years. Instead, the 2013 season - Ericsson's fourth in GP2 after stints with Super Nova and iSport - started disastrously with four retirements and his only points in the first five weekends stemming from clinching pole in Spain. Finally things kicked into gear with victory in the Nurburgring feature race followed by four more podium positions in the backend of the season at Hungary, Spa, Singapore and Abu Dhabi: the fact that he propelled himself to sixth place in effectively half a season's worth of races leaves us wondering what might have been, given a different start to the year.
