Season summary:

After graduating to GP2 as the reigning GP3 Series champion, much was expected from the Kiwi teenager as he took up his seat at Arden, and the first weekend suggested that he might just deliver when he raced to a podium position at Sepang. Unfortunately the rest of the season largely proved just how tough the feeder series can be for a rookie - even one with Mark Webber's backing - with three retirements and a hefty 12 finishes outside the points. But there were also some outstanding highlights, including two third-place finishes in the Monaco feature and sprint races, and a second place at the Hungaroring his best result yet in the championship to date. Unfortunately there was nothing further for him in the remaining four weekends of competition, but he still finished in front of his more experienced team mate Johnny Cecotto Jr.
