Season summary:

A strong start to his first season with Carlin saw Jolyon Palmer finish in the points in five out of the first six races in 2013, but the 22-year-old Briton was then caught up in the huge multi-car accident in the Monaco feature race. That misfortune heralded a fallow mid-season that only picked up again when he raced to a brilliant win at the Hungaroring in July. Thereafter it was a disappointingly sporadic finish to the season, with a further win at Singapore and a second place in Abu Dhabi doing little to disguise the fact that he otherwise only finished in the points again at Spa, on his way to what proved to be a decent but unspectacular seventh place in the championship that was some way off his team mate Felipe Nasr.
