Season summary:

The 22-year-old American made a slightly belated debut in the GP2 Series, finally joining Caterham's GP2 team for the second weekend of the season at Bahrain after the team had tried out and quickly dispensed with the services of Ma Qing Hua at Malaysia. Alexander Rossi started with a bang with a podium in his first feature race outing and a solid double-points finish at Catalunya, but thereafter it was the usual up-and-down rookie season with notable highs being the third place at Spa and a runners-up position in the sprint race at Monza. The highlight of the year was yet to come, however. He secured pole position for the last feature race of the year at Abu Dhabi but fell to third off the line, before a gritty fightback drive saw him work his way back past far more experienced GP2 stars Fabio Leimer and Jolyon Palmer to reclaim the lead and go on to clinch a well-deserved maiden win in the competition.
