Campos Racing has signed up 22-year-old Frenchman Arthur Pic for the forthcoming GP2 Series season, the team's first in the championship since 2008.

"I'm very satisfied to have signed Arthur for our return in GP2 Series this season," said Adri?n Campos, the CEO of Campos Racing. "We followed him closely in the past and his future looks brilliant. "

I am sure that he will bring us great joy in terms of competitiveness," Campos added. "We are also working to make him feel immediately at home."

Pic has spent the last three years racing in Formula Renault 3.5 Series for teams including Tech 1, DAMS and most recently AV Formula with whom he finished in eighth place in the 2013 championship.

Pic's best result in the series was victory at Moscow Raceway in 2012. He has also claimed two further podium places with third places in consecutive years at Aragon.

The driver spent last year's post-season test sessions at Abu Dhabi testing with Arden and ART before finally accepting an offer from Campos to be their first driver signing. The first event at Bahrain on April 5 will be Pic's GP2 race d?but.

Campos Racing was one of the founding teams of the GP2 Series, but Adri?n Campos sold his interest in the operation to Alejandro Agag in 2008 leading to the team being rechristened Barwa Addax.

Valencia-born Campos - who was a driver in F1 with Minardi in 1987 and 1988 before going on to found the team - wanted to focus on building a new F1 team called Campos Grand Prix. That endeavour was eventually bought out and became the short-lived Hispania Racing Team (HRT), which finally folded at the end of 2012.

Now Campos has returned to GP2 by buying out Agag and taking back ownership of the team, which was announced as having a confirmed place on the GP2 starting grid for the next three-year business cycle.
