Three GP2 drivers have been handed three-place grid penalties for Saturday's feature race, which will be series' 200th race since it began in 2005.

Rio Haryanto, Johnny Cecotto Jr. and Takuya Izawa were all found to have impeded other drivers during the 30-minute qualifying session on Friday afternoon at the Hockenheimring.

Haryanto was deemed to have blocked Racing Engineering's Raffaele Marciello in turn 13 while the Italian was on a flying lap. The Caterham driver had ended up with the 22nd fastest time in qualifying but will now start from the back row.

Haryanto was also the afflicted party in another incident, with Trident's Cecotto found guilty of impeding Haryanto at the same spot on a different lap. Cecotto will now drop from a provisional seventh on the grid to tenth place for the race.

Meanwhile Marciello was the hard-done-by driver in a third incident in which ART's Takuya Izawa wandered over track right across the path of the faster car. As well as receiving the same three place penalty as Haryanto and Cecotto, Izawa also has a five-place grid penalty for causing a collision with Campos Racing's Arthur Pic at Silverstone two weeks ago.

As a result of the order in which the penalties are applied, Izawa will drop from 16th to 23rd place for the feature race, which starts at 3.40pm (2.40pm BST) following qualifying for the F1 Grand Prix of Germany. The 27-lap sprint race 2 will be held on Sunday morning at 10.35am (9.35am BST) and all sessions will be shown live in the UK on Sky Sports F1.
