Artur Janosz has joined Trident Motorsport for the upcoming GP3 series after finishing runner-up in the Euroformula Open Championship.

The Polish driver notched up two race wins and a further podium eight appearances on his way to second place in the Euroformula Open series racing for Italian team RP Motorsport.

Trident team boss Giacomo Ricci says he hopes the young Polish driver can go on to emulate his fellow countryman Robert Kubica and reach Formula 1 in the future.

"I'm delighted to announce the agreement reached with Artur Janosz," Ricci said. "I think he's a really interesting driver and I'm sure he'll be a positive surprise in the upcoming GP3 Series season. In addition to that, coming from Poland, he'll be able to captivate the Eastern European audience on the major auto racing panorama. Hoping to follow in the footsteps that brought his fellow countryman Robert Kubica to Formula 1."

The Polish driver will commence pre-season testing on the 18-19 March in Estroil and says 2015 will be a steep learning curve on a much more competitive series.

"The 2014 season has been a really positive one for me, and now I'm ready to face the next challenge," Janosz said. "The switch towards an upper and more demanding series like GP3 won't be easy, but I'm sure that this is the right moment to aim high. The agreement reached with Trident makes me confident. With the help of the team's engineers, and team manager Giacomo Ricci, I'm sure I'll be able to assimilate the knowledge and experience they gathered throughout the years."

Janosz has joined the already announced Luca Ghiotto at Trident with one additional GP3 driver expected to be announced by the team in the coming weeks.
