Rookie Jordan King has opened the second GP2 Series pre-season test at the Bahrain International Circuit atop the timesheets for Racing Engineering.

The Manor F1 development driver hit the front of the field towards the end of the afternoon session, King edging out Mitch Evans, who came close to a clean sweep in the Russian Time car having been fastest in the morning.

A strong day for some of the series' newer drivers, Sergey Sirotkin rounded out the top three in the faster afternoon session - which saw lap times more than a second faster than in the morning -, while fellow FR3.5 graduate Normal Nato was fourth best.

Pre-season title favourite Stoffel Vandoorne rounded out the top five for ART, ahead of Carlin driver - and forthcoming FIA WEC contender - Marco Sorensen and his team-mate Julian Leal, while Lazarus' Nathaneal Berthon, Pierre Gasly and Artem Markeolv completed the top ten.
