Team Lazarus confirms Sergio Canamasas will remain with the team for the remainder of the GP2 Series season after reaching an agreement with the Spaniard.

Canamasas has signed a contract for the rest of the year to race under the Lazarus banner for the five remaining rounds, beginning this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps before heading to Monza, Sochi, Sakhir and the season finale in Yas Marina.

The Spaniard began the season with Dutch squad MP Motorsport and despite grabbing a rostrum finish in the Monaco feature race split with the team, subsequently missing the Austrian event.

While hunting a race seat for the rest of the season Canamasas stepped in for Lazarus at Silverstone and at Hilmer Motorsport in Hungary, but has now secured a full-time spot with Lazarus.

Canamasas will inherit Zoel Amberg's race seat at Lazarus after the Swiss was forced to temporarily stop racing due to an unknown injury.

The 27-year-old says he delighted to secure a drive for the remainder of the season and is already targeting a return to the rostrum with the Italian team.

"It is a real pleasure for me to announce I will contest the rest of the season with Team Lazarus," Canamasas said. "It is always great to work with them and I am very much looking forward to getting great results with this team. We have ample time to achieve good results this season."
