GP3 testing schedule announced

GP3 Series organisers have announced its 2016 pre-season testing schedule, with its full racing calendar to be revealed in the coming weeks
GP3 Series organisers have announced its 2016 pre-season testing schedule, with its full racing calendar expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

The GP3 teams will begin 2016 with a three-day test at Circuit Estoril in Portugal between 22-24 March. The series will then travel to Spanish track Circuit de la Comunitat Valencia Ricardo Tormo for a two-day test on the 7-8 April.

Pre-season testing then concludes at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya for a two-day test on the 20-21 April, while a mid-season test has also been penned for the 7-8 June at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. All tests will be open to the media.

GP3 has also stated the 2016 race calendar will be announced at a later date. It has been speculated the season opener will be at Sochi alongside the Formula 1 Russian Grand Prix and the GP2 curtain raiser on the 29 April – 1 May.
