Sperafico to test with Arden.

Sometime FIA F3000 driver Rodrigo Sperafico is scheduled to test with the Arden Team Russia outfit tomorrow [Thursday], as he seeks a way back into the series that saw his brother take a maiden international win at Spa.

Sperafico will join the team - which ran Russian Viktor Maslov and Britain's Darren Manning for the past two years - at Barcelona's Circuit de Catalunya for his first outing in an F3000 machine since he dropped out of the Coloni team after nine races, following the end of his sponsorship deal.

The Brazilian makes no secret that his desire for 2002 is to find a team competitive enough to challenge for victories in the FIA series.

"Throughout 2000, the staff of the Arden team was in contact with us, because I ran in Italian F3000 and they also had a team in the championship," Sperafico revealed, "Therefore, the invitation for this test appeared. I believe that we have great possibilities with the team, but also to use the trip to keep other contacts.

Twin brother of Petrobras Junior driver Ricardo Sperafico, Rodrigo admitted that the most important task on the day would be to regain his rhythm having been out of the cockpit for some months.

"After four months without F3000, I have to try to enter the fastest possible rhythm," emphasised the Brazilian, who has only had a couple of kart outings since his departure from the FIA series to keep his hand in, "Karting helps to keep the me fit, but the rhythm of the test is different."
