Name changes and numbers confirmed

The GP2 Series has revealed its line-up for 2007 and, as anticipated, it contains little of note other than the expected name changes at Piquet Sports and DPR.

Although driver line-ups aren't expected to be finalised for several weeks - or, in some cases, months - last week's meeting of the FIA World Council allowed the series to ratify both its 2007 calendar and confirm that the 13 teams that formed the grid this season would be returning.

As in 2006, race numbers have been allocated by championship position, keeping ART Grand Prix in possession of the coveted #1 plate, but elevating Piquet Sports to #3 and #4.

Indeed, it will be the newly-monikered Minardi Piquet Sports that occupies the second garage, following the coming-together of two great motorsport names, while Dave Price's DPR operation will race as Carlin DPR following its merger with Trevor Carlin's eponymous - and highly successful - multi-series operation. Meanwhile, Campos Racing has also undergone something of a rebranding since the end of the 2006 campaign, and will be known as Campos Grand Prix next year.

Carlin DPR will run #20 and #21 in its first season, while last year's newcomer Trident Racing moves up to #11 and #12 thanks to the efforts of Gianmaria Bruni and Andreas Zuber. Durango will now occupy the highest numbers in the field, while David Sears' Super Nova International operation will look to improve from the unfamiliar position of #16 and #17 on the entry list.

The full list of runners - as yet without riders - is as follows:

1&2 ART Grand Prix
3&4 Minardi Piquet Sports
5&6 iSport International
7&8 Arden International
9&10 Petrol Ofisi FMS International
11&12 Trident Racing
14&15 Racing Engineering
16&17 Super Nova International
18&19 BCN Competicion
20&21 Carlin DPR
22&23 DAMS
24&25 Campos Grand Prix
26&27 Durango Corse
