Injury forces Maldonado out
Pastor Maldonado has been ruled out of the next GP2 Series round of the season at Istanbul after breaking a collarbone in a biking accident during training.

A major blow to a promising season that has marked him out as one of the leading rookies, for the moment Monaco winner Maldonado will be forced to sit out the coming around at Turkey and it remains to be seen when he will be able to return.

Although he has avoided surgery, at least 20 days will need to be taken to assess when he will be able to race, meaning his participation at Monza and possibly Spa-Francorchamps is under threat.

"This is a compound fracture" said Dr. Ceccarelli, "It was also analysed by Dr. Vito Maiolino, who ruled out surgery. Pastor's arm was fitted with an elastic bandage to block shoulder but, since this phase is very painful, we'll need at least 20 days to know when he'll be able to get back on-track. The recovery, which is very variable from person to person, will be monitored each week with x-rays, to keep having a global picture".

A replacement to partner Kohei Hirate has not been announced.
