Adam Carroll will attempt to capitalise on the sensational GP2 form he has shown since returning to the series mid-season after lining up tests with two championship-contending teams.
The Briton, who has won twice since linking up with FMS International at Magny-Cours this July, will run with both 2007 champion-elect iSport International and last season's drivers' series runner-up Minardi Piquet Sports when the post-season programme gets underway at Jerez on Thursday and Friday of next week.
With all teams using their existing 2007 cars - the revamped 2008 model not available until January - Carroll hopes to use his greater experience of the series, having been involved throughout its short three-year history, to make an early claim to what are likely to be leading seats for next season. He will test for the Norfolk-based iSport on Thursday, having been targeted by the team as a potential replacement for 2007 points leader Timo Glock.
“We approached Adam to test for us as we want as strong a package for next year as we can get," team principal Paul Jackson explained, "Adam ticks all the boxes. He is a proven race winner, has plenty of experience and, if the commercial side comes together, then he is the ideal candidate.”
The following day, Carroll will switch to the Italian-based Minardi Piquet Sports team, where team boss Felipe Vargas also values the Briton's potential contribution.
“I have watched Adam closely over the years as he and Nelson Piquet Jr competed against each other, and I have always admired his racing," the Brazilian commented, "I thought 'here is someone I'd like to see at the wheel of one of our cars'. I believe we will be able to put together a good sponsorship package for 2008 and, in this case, Adam would be amongst the top of our wishlist."
