Bruno Senna set the fastest lap of the GP2 Series group test at Jerez de la Frontera, the Brazilian benefiting from the magic touch shown by new champions iSport International on day two of the session.
The Brazilian, who has suffered time in the doldrums after making a strong start to his GP2 career, was back on form as he took the #6 iSport car previously campaigned by Andi Zuber to the top of the timesheets, his 1min 27.015secs effort eclipsing the quickest lap set at the Spanish circuit last season.
Second fastest was Thursday morning's fastest man, Adam Carroll, the Ulsterman maintaining his pace despite switching from iSport to Minardi Piquet Sport overnight. Carroll narrowly beat Giorgio Pantano on the morning timesheets as the Italian made a seamless return to Campos Grand Prix following a few days rest to reflect on his well-deserved third place in the 2007 championship.
Luca Filippi, the man Pantano beat to that third place on a tie-breaker, was fourth quickest in the morning, underlining both his own pace and that of the DPR team as he continued with David Price's
equipe for a second day. Fifth place went to Karun Chandhok, the Indian joining Senna at iSport, while Javier Villa finished sixth for Racing Engineering.
Of the new batch of drivers, Marco Bonanomi was again the fastest, setting the eighth best lap for Minardi Piquet, and putting himself ahead of DAMS' Giedo van der Garde.
Senna's time survived a renewed assault from Carroll after lunch, the Briton lapping a second slower than they had in the early session as the pace dropped away. Carroll finished the session 0.109secs ahead of the man more used to the #3 Minardi car, Xandi Negrao, who, having partnered Carroll at iSport on day one, turned his favours to ART Grand Prix.
Third place went to Villa, who narrowly beat his team-mate for the day, Ernesto Viso, the Venezuelan making a strong return to GP2 action after not driving the cars since the Nurburgring in July. Andi Zuber, meanwhile, returned to the Trident Racing team which gave him his break in GP2, claiming fifth best time, while series newcomer Kamui Kobayashi went sixth fastest for ART to top the unfamiliar faces.
Giorgio Pantano finished the session seventh for Campos Grand Prix with Adrian Zaugg eighth for Dams, ahead of Vitaly Petrov and Mike Conway.
Senna, meanwhile, joined Chandhok at the bottom of the session timesheets, in 24th and 25th positions, after running a short race simulation immediately after lunch. With the track's peak time over, and nobody close to beating the Brazilian's time from the morning, the champions decided to pack up early and head home for a well-deserved break.
